i've seen a microsoft document which has the majority of the writing protected so you can not edit it but also has grey areas throughout the document where you are able to input selected text.
does anyone know how to create this, as i need to use this for a template i have??? please help!!

This will be a form. What you need is to bring your forms toolbar in, right button of mouse on an empty part of the menu bar area to bring up list of toolbars, and click the Forms one. Suggest you move your mouse over all the icons then to see what they are and play around, it would take too long here to explain how to create your form. What you do need to make sure you do, however, is once you have created the form (and the grey parts are fields) you need to click on the padlock on the forms toolbar otherwise people can't use it.
