How to set a default language in Microsoft Word 2007?

I have Microsoft Word 2007, and I can't seem to change the default language away from American English. I want to change it to Australian English, and every time I do, it reverts to American English when I open it again. Here's what I've tried:

1) Click Language, change it to English (Australia) and select default.

2) Right click the Normal template and modify it so that the default is Australian English. I then choose "New documents based on this template".

3) Selecting "Word Options", Editing Languages, and selecting only Australian English.

None of these seem to work, unless I've done something wrong. Any idea how to permanently change this to Australian English?

Try this:

1. Start Word as normal, so you have a blank document available.

2. Click on the Review ribbon.

3. Click on the "Set Language" button

4. Click once on the language you wish to default to

5. Click the "Default..." button

6. Choose "Yes" to the prompt

7. Choose "OK" to close the dialogue box.

8. Close and restart Word to see if that works.

If it doesn't, then repeat steps 1 to 4, and then:

4a. Uncheck "Detect lanaguage automatically"

Then finish steps 5-8.

Hope that helps!
