Question about microsoft word 2007?

okay...I recently purchased Office 2007 and I created a document using one of the templates. However, when I attach the file to an email, the receipient cannot open it. I saved it in "compatible mode" so they could open it regardless of what version of Word they have. Why can't they open it? Did I do something wrong? How can I fix it? Thanks in advance.

either save it as a .doc (not .docx) or have them install the office compatibility pack

While saving the file Save it as %26lt;filename%26gt;.doc instead of %26lt;filename%26gt;.docx ( which is default )



even if you save it in the compatibility mode and it is still saved as *.docx it'll only open in MS Word 2007.
